Doc Abode is a rapidly growing health tech company with offices in Leeds and Manchester, building solutions to provide better care for NHS patients. We are looking to recruit junior and mid level developers to join our small but expanding in-house development team. We have a modern tech stack, agile environment and collaborative culture. At Doc Abode, our engineers have the opportunity to work across the whole stack on a variety of projects.

We’re a remote first company with flexible working hours but we do like to catch up with regular video calls. When circumstances allow, we’d like our team to meet ad-hoc in the office and potentially on client sites.

You will:

  • Work with a wide range of modern technologies and platforms
  • Contribute to ways of working, standards and roadmaps
  • Uphold and strive for best practices across the design, engineering, performance and security of our systems
  • Have an immediate and big impact on software being used to provide people the best care when they really need it
  • Be a key component of a small, friendly and motivated team

You might be a good fit if you:

  • Have a passion for crafting usable and accessible user interfaces
  • Love writing tests and taking a test-driven approach to development
  • Like to ship code that is simple, readable and performant
  • Take responsibility for ensuring your code works in the real world
  • Are self-motivated and results-driven
  • Want to bring your individuality, experience and qualities to the team whilst being keen to learn and improve

You must have one or more of the following capabilities:

  • Have experience developing front-end interfaces, especially using React
  • Have experience developing mobile applications, especially using React Native
  • Have experience developing back-end JavaScript/Typescript applications in Node.js
  • Are familiar with AWS and/or serverless architecture (specifically AWS / Terraform : S3, API Gateway, IAM, Lambda, DynamoDB, SNS, Cognito)

Bonus points:

  • Experience working with NHS Digital APIs
  • Confident in building Business Intelligence and Reporting suites
  • Have experience integrating with Electronic Patient Records and other health software
  • Have previously worked in a highly regulated industry (cyber security and data protection are important to us in healthcare)

Why work for Doc Abode?

You will be able to see the difference your development makes very quickly within a real live NHS environment, making a difference to people’s lives immediately. It is a busy yet friendly environment. We have been at the forefront of the Covid-19 response and we have some excellent opportunities to create good quality code that will make a huge impact in the real world.
